Wet Macular Degeneration Is Rare

Posted by admin

Wet macular degeneration is a type of macular degeneration which is not so common. Most of the cases are that of dry macular degeneration. Only 10% of the patients of macular degeneration suffer from wet macular degeneration. In medical terms, it is known as exudative or choroidal neovascularization.

In wet macular degeneration, an abnormal blood vessel growth is formed beneath macula of the retina. These vessels are responsible for creating fluid and blood, thereby causing damage to the photo-receptors. As it grows, it becomes dangerous for the central vision.
