Facts about Triglycerides
A certain type of fat found in your blood is called a triglyceride. Whatever your body does not need to use right after you eat, gets converted into these. These fats are stored in your fat cells and released periodically throughout the day to give you energy to keep you going between meals. On a normal, healthy person, their level is normal, however, if a person eats more calories than they burn, you may have a higher level called hypertriglyceridemia. An easy blood test is able to determine your level and what you can do to increase or decrease your levels to get back to normal. Triglycerides are not to be mistaken with cholesterol. They are two entirely different things that work in very different ways. While these fat cells are designed to give you energy between meals throughout the day, cholesterol is made to build up cells and certain hormones in your body. Both these and cholesterol travel through your body without the risk of being dissolved into your blood. They both circulate through your body with the help of lipoprotein.
