Basically, the Federal government needs money to operate. Since a sizable amount of that money comes from your personal income taxes, some other form of funding would have to take its place. As an example, if you really want to do away with a federal tax lien, and income taxes, you might want to consider higher taxes on goods and services. That said, many people feel this will impose a much more unfair burden on people that already can't afford the basic necessities.
